TUTAKITAKI
PROJECT BRIEF
TUTAKITAKI project is an experimental musical work that promotes the encounter of Brazilian popular and indigenous traditions with MAORI music. It explores the sounds and instruments of Aotearoa and Brazil in compositions made in Te Reo, Brazilian indigenous languages, Portuguese and English. The music is created and played by Brazilian singer resident in Aotearoa, Alda Rezende, Maori musician Matiu Te Huki and visiting Brazilian musicians CaÃto Marcondes e Kristoff Silva. TUTAKITAKI will toured New Zealand in 2014 and had support from the Embassy of Brazil, Maori Tourism, Air New Zealand, Creativa Design Studio and Te Papa. Image kindly donated and especially painted for TUTAKITAKI by Brazilian artist Fernando Pacheco.
